Well, I'm beginning to see the light. -The Velvet Underground, bitches.
I'm not gonna lie. I'm taking full advantage of the leisure that accompanies being unemployed (a.k.a. an intern). Strange, but now that I'm done with school, all I want to do is read and write. Ok, and drink Corona. And watch The Office. And go to shows, plays, all that jazz. Did I mention drink? Anyway, I'm reading a lot of authors that give me that "how did I not find this earlier?" feeling, like some other dimension of deja vu. Lethem and Liebling are causing it at the moment, but I'm also on a graphic novel kick. I'll write a book blog soon (for Pomp).
Another perk of unemployment is that I have time to help friends with their creative projects. Tonight, Suhatcha and I are painting her gallery space. She is curating her first show in a few weeks (!). Jeremiah's play got accepted into the Fring fest, and I may sit in on some readings to help re-vamp the script. If I'm still as broke, free and vicariously proud as I am right now.
Perks aside though, I need a (paying) job. Technically, I start waitressing next week, but whenever I walk past the restaurant it seems to lack...customers, which is definitely a cause for concern. So I am looking for waitressing/bartending/freelance copyediting gigs. Got a couple "maybes," so we'll see.
Now, back to moving boxes...
